rim-logoGmail integration using IMAP

Blackberry has announced the upcoming update to the BIS which includes some nice features for users of Gmail.

BlackBerry Internet Service 2.6 uses Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) to integrate Gmail® webmail accounts. This integration protocol introduces the following benefits:

Elimination of sent email messages appearing as received email messages in the message list on the BlackBerry smartphone
One-way synchronization of read status, sent items, and deleted items

To use these improvements, BlackBerry smartphone users must remove and reintegrate their Gmail webmail accounts. For more information, see KB17407.

So, look forward to this update that is expected on March 21st – and say goodbye to the annoying duplicate sent email messages, as well as the workaround most have been using.

I recently had the opportunity to spend a day taking photos of Washington D.C.. This was taken right before sunset, from the perspective of the National Mall.

While visiting D.C. I tried to find the tallest buildings and areas to photograph from. This happened to be the tallest structure I could get up that day. Plenty of lens flare, and I like it.

Setup Outlook Web Access with Blackberry Devices

// March 2nd, 2009 // View Comments // Blackberry, Popular

I have a personal Blackberry Storm but I still wanted the ability to check my work emails.  Of course most businesses will give you the option, but they will also take full control of your device – requiring you to setup a secure password and they will also control all software upgrades.  I did not want to lose control of my Blackberry.  Fortunately my company does provide the option to connect to Outlook Web Access to check my emails outside of the company network.

BISJust head over to your carriers BIS website:

VerizonAT&T- NextelSprintT-Mobile

Next just click “Set Up Account” and provide the email address along with login information for your Outlook Web Access credentials.  Thats it, now a new icon should show up on your Blackberry and you can access the outlook account.

Mountain Goats – Monday Fun

No, this isn’t my photo. But after getting stuck in the airport half of the weekend, I needed a good laugh, and I have goats to thank for this one. What an amazing creature. Seriously, can you sit and look/think about this photo and not laugh?
